Pythagoras enables you to make your drawing in the field. You set your own codes and let Pythagoras convert your field data into a drawing. The points, symbols, texts and lines will automatically pop up in the chosen color, style and layer. Pythagoras offers extensive coding possibilities that will allow the most complex measuring situations to be converted efficiently into a drawing. Since Pythagoras VBA allows Pythagoras to communicate directly with a serial port, receiving real-time GPS or total station data directly into a Pythagoras drawing is one of the applications that is in hot demand.

Integrated calculation and drawing functions Pythagoras is not a general application that has been adjusted, but a CAD application specifically designed to serve your needs as a surveyor or civil engineer. Intelligent cursor Whenever the cursor approaches an object on the screen, a 'target' appears. The form of the target depends on the object and the place of the object it refers to. This way, the cursor automatically snaps to points, lines, points of tangency, etc. At the same time exact information about the object is displayed in the control panel. A few simple mouse clicks suffice to obtain the distance between a point and an are, the radius of an arc, the difference in height between two points, etc. As simple and quick as it gets.
The Control Panel The control pane! is your instrument panel while you are making your drawings, calculations, etc. The information in the Pythagoras control panel is context sensitive, i.e the information in the control panel will change according to the object you want to draw and according to the relation of this object to other objects. From field data to completed drawing….a professional result Pythagoras works according to the WYSIWYG-principle, thus showing you on the screen exactly how your drawing will be printed. Adding a frame poses no problems whatsoever: you draw in page coordinates, directly onto your page, without having to take into account the scale of the drawing. Selecting a different page layout? Your drawing coordinates will not change and the frame will stick to the page. The result? A perfect printout of your drawings.

Raster data Pythagoras allows the perfect combination of raster and vector data offering numerous possibilities while making location models, preliminary designs, and thematic maps as well as digitizing drawings. Terrain modeling The calculation of contour lines, cross sections, cut & fill, and slopes as well as a perspective view of the site. Pythagoras makes them all possible. Based on tens of thousands of points and break lines - or arcs for that matter Pythagoras can calculate a field model using flowing contour lines, each at a desired distance, color and type of line. The cross sections and profiles will be made to the chosen scale and you can place them wherever you want. Pythagoras calculates the cut & fills based on two (out of max. 32) digital terrain models.
Road design Pythagoras also proves to be a powerful. yet user-friendly, application for road design. A well designed window will show you the field data and an adjusted control panel will help you design the profile. The result: detailed cross sections, profiles and volumes.
Calculations For most calculations, Pythagoras will not ask you for any special commands. They are considered a logical result of the way the objects are being drawn. Exceptions are: the calculations of transformations, traverses, adjustments, intersections, and resections..
Coordinate system Transformations In Pythagoras, all coordinates are 3D. The coordinate system therefore, is also three dimensional. Compared to other 3D CAD applications the Pythagoras coordinate system is always situated in a horizontal plane that corresponds with the use of coordinates in the field. Pythagoras enables you to work in any chosen coordinate system specified by 2 common points or calculated based on 3 or more points in common. For the exchange of data between drawings, the copy and paste function suffices. All objects, points, lines. etc. obtain the right coordinates. all transformation parameters being automatically calculated by Pythagoras
Programmable - Pythagoras VBA Pythagoras allows you to exchange drawings with other CAD applications in various ways (e.g. DXF, DWG, DGN). Above all Pythagoras is an open application, allowing programmers to make direct links between Pythagoras and other applications. The goal here is client specific functions and the integration with other information systems and databases
