Aerial photographs are considered the most important, widely available, and commonly utilized kind of remote sensed images.  They are used for many applications such as land resources, cartographic, and appraisal surveys both in the public and private sectors.  Often times aerial photographs are employed as "base map" upon which thematic data are portrayed.  Appropriate aerial photograph is a fundamental first step for many land mapping and evaluation projects, and air photos often form the basis for interpretation of other kinds of remote sensing.
